We live on a block that is home to 22 children. When it comes down to our children being entertained, we have always been able to simply step outside our front door and join in the fun. Imagine the shock it gave my children to hear that we needed to stay at our house and not play with friends during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first week was rough. Eventually, they adapted and learned to play together more, but we certainly have had to get creative to keep things fun. I have compiled a list of items perfect for entertaining school-aged children at home.
This toy is perfect for a variety of ages. I like that it can be played with friends or solo. You can get it here: Pindaloo
This streamer has Georgia’s name all over it, so I’ve added this to my cart. She can spend hours entertaining herself and I know this will have some moments of creativity for her. You can get it here: Rainbow Streamer
I bought one of these after it was such a hit at a mountain house we vacationed at last fall. It’s just as popular here. David mounted the hook onto a tree in our backyard and it has been used almost daily. You can get it here: DIY Ring Swing Kit
All three of my kids LOVE this game. I love that it doesn’t damage the house and makes a rainy day easier. You can get it here: Hover Soccer Ball
Giant bubbles…..need I say more? I figure this will keep them entertained for a few hours. You can get it here: WOWMazing Bubbles
Our backyard has very little shade, so we need to find ways to stay cool in the summer….especially if we will not be able to go to our pool. I found this sprinkler that mounts to the top of a trampoline. This is a perfect option to keep them cool while they play. You can get it here: Sprinkler Trampoline
My kids are obsessed with forts. They can bring this kit outside and throw a parachute over it to make the perfect clubhouse. You can get it here: Fort Kit
We have this climbing dome in our backyard…it is amazing! It is so big, all three of our kids can go on it together. (Before social distancing, their little friends were able to climb on it, too. It holds up to 1000 lbs.) We got the one that has earth-tone colors. It visually blends in with the yard and that really makes it so much less obtrusive. You can get it here: Climbing Dome
I am a big fan of any game that David and I can play with the kids. I think it is so important for us to have fun together. This game stands on sand, grass, or concrete, so it will be perfect for a Saturday afternoon in our backyard. You can get it here: Knockoff Toss
Hang in there, guys. We’re going to come out of this better, more connected people.
Also, we started a family YouTube channel to keep us entertained. Be sure to subscribe to it here!
