I once walked into the bathroom of a day spa and admired the tiny white washcloths neatly rolled up. They were beside the sink in a basket, ready for anyone who had just washed their hands.
Some time later, I was in my kitchen. I picked up one of the million random hand towels I had thrown on my kitchen counter to dry my hands. It just looked…ugly. Immediately, I remembered the spa towels and decided I had to do that in my kitchen. Of course, I jumped online (literally, if I don’t have to leave the house to shop with the three kids, I DO NOT. What did mothers do before Prime and grocery delivery?) Anyway, I did some research (aka stalking other peoples reviews) and found a set of inexpensive basic white washcloths. I settled on these. There are 24 in a pack, and I ordered two packs, which has been just the right amount.
Y’all, it is the smartest thing I have ever done. It looks neat and tidy. We use fewer paper towels and they come in handy for all of our random spills.
I keep a galvanized bin on the top of my fridge. (I have these bins all over my house. I love the industrial, casual vibe they have. You can find this exact one here: bins.) When we use a washcloth after a hand wash, we just toss it in the bin. At the end of the day, I throw them all in the wash on our “sanitary” setting and add a little bleach. (Though I am trying to steer away from using bleach too much.) The next morning, I roll them up and put them in a neat little locker basket by the sink. This is the basket I chose: locker basket. (I just realized they have them in copper, too…now I want the copper one!)
It isn’t quite a “day spa,” but it works wonders in managing the chaos.
While I was taking these photos for this post, Georgia wandered in and asked what I was doing. Before I could even try to explain why I was awkwardly photographing our fridge, she said “get pictures of me!!” Who could refuse? 🙂
